In 1980, Calgary Flame’s General Manager, Cliff Fletcher called Håkan Loob “the Wayne Gretzky of Sweden”! Loob became a very rare member of Hockey’s “Triple Gold Club” which, to be included, means you must win a Gold Medal at the Olympic Games, a gold medal at the IIHF World Championships and also win the Stanley Cup – all three! Only 30 players in the history of the sport of hockey have managed to accomplish this. Loob only played 6 years in the National Hockey League – all with the Calgary Flames, but in a very short time he had a very big impact becoming the first Swedish player to score 50 goals in the NHL and played in 2 Stanley Cup finals, including being part of Calgary’s only Stanley Cup Championship Team in 1989. One of the all-time Swedish hockey legends - Håkan Loob..!!
